Most regulatory agencies require proof of a planned training approach. The minimum requirements include an 'Orientation or New Employee Training Plan' and an ongoing review or new information format which usually is encompassed in the "Monthly In-service Plan."
Training forms serve as reminders to both parties as to what the employee has been trained on to date. There are at least two other important purposes to a training form as well. First is the fact that the actual act of an employee "signing" to verify his or her training will instill a sense of accountability. A sense of accountability is critical to good performance.
Secondly, the training form gives indisputable evidence if or when must justifying our employment practices to an arbitrator or fact-finding agency. It is a common occurrence for a training form to change the outcome of a case, or at least make it an easier one to win. We cannot express strongly enough the importance of the training form.
